First U S home of Von Trapps opened to stars
The von Trapp family lived on Merion Road in Merion Pennsylvania from 1939 to 1942 after fleeing Austria. They performed weekly for an American patron and their first U S concert occurred in the Dinker home room. Actors from The Sound of Music visited and marveled at the historic site now hosting an art collection. Maria von Trapp recalled hot summers and fond memories before relocating to Vermont.
