Snowstorm disrupts Northeast travel with heavy snowfall
A sprawling storm blanketed the mid Atlantic and urban Northeast, threatening 10 to 14 inches in Philadelphia and New England, up to a foot in New York City. It forced thousands of flight cancellations, halted government offices in Washington, and delayed travel as arctic air moved in. One death in Maryland and incidents near Campbelltown, Pennsylvania highlighted dangers on slick roads. PennDOT anticipates continued plowing under a large winter budget for the season. Air service reductions by Amtrak and airports from Washington to Boston followed the system’s progression.
