Whale dies during rescue of Thames bottlenose in London crowd scene
A 20 foot Northern bottlenose whale stranded in the River Thames died Saturday while rescuers used a rusting salvage barge to move it toward the North Sea. The animal, dehydrated and stressed, suffered convulsions as hundreds watched from Albert Bridge and along the riverbank. A necropsy will determine cause of death.
