Calcium in Diet Linked to Lower Colorectal Tumor Risk
Researchers report in the New England Journal of Medicine that calcium supplements taken after colorectal adenoma surgery modestly reduce the risk of another growth over four years. In a trial of 832 patients across six hospitals, 127 of 409 on calcium vs 159 of 423 on placebo developed at least one adenoma, with fewer tumors per patient in the calcium group. The enzyme bile acids may partly explain the vegetable rich diet benefit.

DNA based machine shows moving part from tiny DNA strands
Researchers at New York University and colleagues report a hinge like device built from two double stranded DNA spirals joined by a DNA bridge. Exposed to a chemical, part of the structure bends. The work, published in Nature, marks a step in nanotechnology toward tiny actuators for future micro robots and circuit assembly.

Parenting responsibilities and genetic factors in child welfare
The text argues that parenthood requires deliberate preparation and responsibility beyond age or relationship status. It highlights genetic influence on a child, warns against unintended pregnancies from reckless sex, and notes parental health affects offspring, including the risk of venereal disease transmission from a father to a child.
Parent Maturity and Family Health Perspectives by Glenn R Nichols Sr
The essay discusses how maternal health and nutrition affect fetal development and why both parents’ health and emotional maturity influence parenting success. It argues that grandparent-led households challenge the idea that birth guarantees maturity and stresses adaptability, cooperation, humor, and love as key traits for healthy parenthood.
Arctic ozone thinning sparks UV risk for northern regions
Arctic ozone depletion threatens Europe and North America with higher ultraviolet exposure if the Arctic vortex resumes its 1996 97 severity. Researchers warn that sustained depletion could let more UV reach late spring and summer surface levels, potentially making the north more Antarctic like.
