Baldwin hit with four more warrants in Carpenter case
Baldwin faced four new violent crime warrants from the Aiken Department of Public Safety signed by Magistrate Charles T. Carter and served at the jail. The charges include carjacking armed robbery arson in the third degree and firearms possession. A bond hearing was rescheduled to tonight due to a key witness being out of town.

Beech Island 7 Year Old Hit By Car At Bus Stop
Brittany Miller seven and another Beech Island student were hit by a vehicle while at a Pine Log Road bus stop near Neo Drive before 7 a.m. today. Officials say both crossed the road to avoid the bus and ran back when it approached.

New laboratory planned at Savannah River Research Campus
Aiken County signs an eight year lease with Westinghouse Savannah River Co. for a new laboratory at the Savannah River Research Campus off U. S. 278 near the Savannah River Site. Woman of the Year Harriett Skinner Shines in Aiken
Harriett Skinner, born near Bishopville and a Winthrop alumna, moved to Aiken in 1966 to work at Aiken Electric Cooperative. She rose from home service advisor to director of energy management and manager of member services before retiring in 1998 as communications coordinator. Her community service was shaped by Girl Scout leader Mary Quattlebaum and 4-H leader Caroline Mears.
