A fire at Gregory’s Quik Curb Market on S C 126 yesterday afternoon was contained when Ruth Gregory’s son Roger arrived, broke down a door, and alerted the Fire Department. The blaze started near a cedar booth and burned a wall with heavy smoke but limited damage, according to Fire Chief Larry Britt.

Body Found After House Fire in Windsor
In Windsor an unidentified body was found in a house destroyed by fire early today. Sheriff Ralph Gunnells said Gene Weeks and another man discovered the remains upon returning to inspect the damage and the body will be sent to the Medical University of South Carolina for autopsy to determine identity.

Shrimp Season Bleak in South Carolina

Injuries Fatal To North Augusta Man
A 61 year old North Augusta man died yesterday from injuries from a December 19 automobile accident. Johnny Kearns of Butler Avenue died at 9 30 am in the hospital. He was struck by a vehicle while walking on Buena Vista Avenue just outside North Augusta city limits. No charges filed.
