Bethel Baptist crews reach over a million Bible verses read

Bethel Baptist Church members set a goal in January 2004 to read one million verses. By Christmas the count topped 1 007 350 verses. Sunday school superintendent Steve Woodward notes improved home reading and a 22 percent rise in attendance while a core group of about 25 stayed dedicated. Visitors were inspired to try the challenge at their own churches and Alabama guests planned to pursue it. The church now eyes the next challenge stewardship and giving.
