Chiang Ching-kuo former president of Taiwan and son of Chiang Kai-shek died today of a heart attack at Veterans General Hospital at 4 30 p m He was 77 Vice President Lee Teng-hui was sworn in as president three hours later with Premier Yu Kuo-hwa presiding at the Nationalist Party headquarters.
Jim Moore chairman of the Aiken County Board of Education will hold a meeting tonight at 7 30 at Hyers Drug Store in North Augusta. He said the meeting was requested by Paul Hyer and he does not know the substance. Also invited are Sheran Proctor and Johnny Shaw of the North Augusta Belvedere Board, Area 2 Assistant Superintendent Troy Nales and Superintendent Joseph Brooks.
A Texas research team reports that laser light may eradicate infectious agents including the AIDS virus from donated blood. The finding, outlined in Transfusion, is based on three years of small scale lab experiments led by Dr. James L. Matthews of Baylor University Medical Center.
