Why Aiken Sees Little Snow Weather Mystery Explained
Aiken rarely freezes with snow due to its southern latitude, humid subtropical climate, and elevation. The region benefits from warmth from the Bermuda high and proximity to the equator, while mountains and air patterns keep cold air from meeting moisture. Atlanta sits higher and farther inland, yielding more frequent snow events. Aiken’s annual snow chance is about 30 percent versus Upstate’s 50–90 percent.
