Aiken Public Safety Officer Travis Griffin received a Character Award for courage at a packed council chambers ceremony. The 28 year old was shot in the chest during a Dec 20 traffic stop near Brandt Court. his vest saved him. Master Public Safety Officer Scotty Richardson died from injuries the next day.
