Gator Surprise In Langley Stuns Local Resident
Langley resident Pat Smith found a 22 inch alligator in her yard on Piney Heights Road after her dog Pepper dragged it inside. The gator died from injuries. Neighbors worry a mother may be nearby. Whit Gibbons notes alligators are native to swampy areas near the Savannah River. He advises staying indoors and letting the animal return to water.

Storms in state claim one victim in flooding
Severe thunderstorms and a tornado slammed Pickens County causing at least 3 million dollars in damage. A Pickens man, James Champ Jones, drowned when his pickup drove into a 15 by 10 foot water-filled washout on a road north of Pickens. Rescue efforts continued as divers searched the swollen creek. An F1 tornado touched down southwest of Easley, destroying mobile homes and damaging houses. Annie Lou Able, 78, described the sudden wind as it ripped through her home.
