Aiken IC Support Group Set To Meet At Medical Center
The Interstitial Cystitis Support Group in Aiken will meet Monday at 7 p.m. at HCA Aiken Regional Medical Center. Founder Melanie Barton, who runs Pastoral Care Associates, formed the group to help patients and families share treatment experiences and learn from doctors about the disease and its complications. Barton plans to teach relaxation and self hypnosis techniques to cope with pain. About 50 known IC sufferers in Aiken and more than 100 in the broader area are affected, with impacts on social work and family life.
