Haven of Rest Christian Store Faces Tough Times

Haven of Rest Christian Store on the Southside faces declining sales over the past two years as online and big-box retailers offer lower prices. Owner Joan Tuck, a Wagener resident who opened the shop in 1991, says the store relies on faith and personal connections, with a niche in 6000 performance tracks and two listening rooms for customers to sing along before buying. The shop, open Monday through Saturday, has reduced part-time staff but remains staffed by Tuck, Assistant Manager Heather Willis, and Gail Gibson, while sons help part-time. The owner remains hopeful and committed to serving customers with scripture and love.
