Reflecting pools chosen for World Trade Center memorial
A design titled Reflecting Absence by Michael Arad won a global competition for the World Trade Center memorial. Two reflecting pools mark the towers’ footprints, linked by a stone field and pine trees, with the Freedom Tower soon to rise nearby. The choice drew mixed reactions from victims’ families and locals.
