Pending home sales fall 16 percent in November
U S buyers agreed to purchase previously occupied homes, signaling weaker winter sales after November. The National Association of Realtors reported a 16 percent month decline in the seasonally adjusted index to 96, the sharpest drop since June and well below analyst forecasts. Policymakers extended and expanded the first and move-up home buyer credits, but economists expect only a gradual recovery as buyers time purchases to the tax credits.
