Aiken County forms Community Relations Council outreach planned

Aiken County appoints eight diverse members to a revived Community Relations Council. The group will hold forums in five to six county areas between March and May to gauge residents’ issues from public safety to zoning. The council aims to foster unity and dialogue without addressing individual grievances. Its next meeting is set for Jan 12.

Aiken County swears in probate judge and clerk of court

Aiken County swore in two new elected officials at the county courthouse on Wednesday. Robert Harte became the new clerk of court and Tanya Marchant the probate judge, both taking hands on a historic Bible as Second Judicial Circuit Judge Dovet A Barry presided.

City's Strikehouse Bowl suit motion stretched to 30 days

In Aiken, the City of Aiken seeks dismissal and continues its motion in the Strikehouse Bowl lawsuit. The case, involving SCDOT and CHB Acquisitions, now faces a 30 day delay to allow due diligence as condemnation actions over the Whiskey Road intersection proceed.
