LSU defeated South Carolina 70 58 at Colonial Life Arena in the SEC opener. Valerie Nainima led USC with 13 points and Kelsey Bone added 9 in the loss.
Duke blitzed Clemson 74-53 in Durham as Jon Scheyer and Nolan Smith each scored 22. Duke held Clemson to 12 first half points and 33 percent shooting, extending the Tigers’ 13‑game skid at the arena. Dementez Stitt led Clemson with 17 as Duke opened ACC play with strong defense and efficient second half offense.
Appalachian State assistant Shawn Elliott will be South Carolina’s new offensive line coach. Elliott played for Mountaineers and spent eight years coaching the O line there, replacing John Hunt and Eric Wolford as USC faces SEC challenges. Elliott is a Camden native ready to join and begin work on Monday.

Matt Moore threw for 162 yards and a score to Dwayne Jarrett as New Orleans rested starters amid questions for coach John Fox and free agency ahead.
Atlanta Falcons secure consecutive winning records for the first time in franchise history by beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20-10. Matt Ryan threw for 223 yards and two TDs, Roddy White caught two, including the go ahead late in the fourth quarter. Jason Snelling rushed for 147 yards on 25 carries as Tampa Bay ended 3-13 under Raheem Morris.
