Scars on Capitol Marked From War and Fire
The state capitol near the second floor bears scars from Sherman era shellfire and from the burning that destroyed nearby buildings. Two brass Confederate cannons will be melted to cast markers with legends by Alex S. Salley Jr. The marks describe heat damage from a wooden building fire that cracked stone at the corner.
