Aiken Romania urged a crowd to gather off public roads on New Year’s Eve to reduce accidents linked to drinking and driving. The initiative targets students and general revelers, aiming to keep everyone away from drivers under the influence.
Hundreds joined a First Night celebration moving from Chesterfield Street to Park Avenue via Laurens Street with chalk drawings by Keely Reichel age five. Performances by Aiken Civic Ballet Second Baptist Church Mass Choir Irene Goodnight Swingstation and more filled the Art Center with Cliff Dyches making a third appearance. Weather and mood drew attendees to an alcohol-free New Year as acts including The Hurdy Gurdy Man Magician Mike Wilbanks Tawana Thomas and Prodigal Son entertained crowds often with multiple acts and groups listed.
Morris testified that Young, released on bond, killed his son after verbal confrontations outside the Spartan Food Systems restaurant. He described holding his dying son as two other youths allegedly started the trouble.
