Twenty two Murphy Village defendants indicted in an August 2016 racketeering sweep will attend a Tuesday change of plea hearing in Columbia court records show. Plea agreements list conspiracy to commit racketeering as the charge for most defendants with max penalties up to 20 years and 250000 fine. The group face related fraud charges tied to SNAP food stamp, insurance, and Medicaid schemes involving Irish Travelers in the North Augusta area.
The Aiken County Legislative Delegation unanimously approved a one time recreation funding package from the S C Parks and Recreation Department. Windsor Salley Jackson New Ellenton and North Augusta will receive specified amounts to fund park projects with 80 percent state funding and 20 percent local match.
Benjamin Michael Bruker 40 pleads guilty to second degree sexual exploitation of a minor and five counts of third degree exploitation. Prosecutors say 31 213 still photos and 903 videos were found on his computer and USB drive. He faces up to 10 years per count plus mandatory two years for the second degree charge. sentencing postponed.
