York County authorities seek a suspect in the killing of Mickey Kennington whose bullet riddled body was found in woods west of the McDonnellsville area after a week-long search. George Douglas Johnson, 34, already jailed on an accessory to robbery charge, faces new murder warrants as investigators pursue the shooter.

The judge suspended five years in youth services with five years probation and strict terms including school completion, license revocation, sobriety, monthly drug tests, church attendance, monthly probation reports, restorative talks, house curfews, restitution totals of 14 000, and potential reincarceration for violations.
Judge Rodney A. Peeples allegedly broke state law by offering a choice between imprisonment or a fine for an offense that carries at least a year in jail. Atman Eugene Huggins, 41, of North, classified as a habitual offender after driving under suspension on Jan. 31. The judge sentenced Huggins to three years in jail with three thousand dollars in fines suspended on one year served or one thousand paid.
Three crew members on a Seaboard system freight train were injured when a moving train struck a stationary unit at Robbins Switching Center near SRP. The 30 mph collision caused two locomotives and 96 cars to derail after a previous derailment cleanup. No hazardous materials were involved.
The Aiken City Council approved an amendment to the zoning ordinance restricting earth satellite dishes to rear yards, classifying antennas as structures. Residents have five years to remove front yard dishes following a dispute led by Crosland Park residents and supported by civic leader Dorothy Sires. The measure comes after a Second Circuit ruling allowing front yard antennas and a city appeal. Third reading set for March 11. The meeting also fixed dates for the November 5 municipal election and candidate filing deadlines.
