Black History Month program shines at Aiken Center
A two hour Spotlight on Black History Month at the Aiken County Recreation Center featured Saint Peter Baptist Church performers from Elko, storytelling by Barbara O Neal Carter, and a Dance Troupe The Tribe of Judah. The Family dramatization and youth scenes addressed today’s challenges including drugs and peer pressure. John Bowen of the Tri Development Center noted South Carolina ranks high in traffic deaths emphasizing seat belt use. Minnie Palmore House Learning Center youngsters sang and recited as 3 year old Taylor Noel Ward performed America the Beautiful. Helen Simpkins praised the event as a huge success and urged black pride every day, not just in February.
