Aiken Plans Large Scale Manufacturing Plant Unanimously Approved
County Development Partnership confirmed the investment projection and said the project would qualify for state tax credit inducements for job creation. Coldiron appeared before the Planning Commission with a proposal for a large scale manufacturing plant, which received unanimous preliminary approval under the county zoning standards. Coldiron described a zero emission, closed environment facility with no smoke stacks and all operations confined to a sealed area. The plant will assemble automotive hub units with a heat treatment process using a magnetic field, with oil quenches and subsequent drilling, machining and honing. Metal filings will be collected for recycling, and the company operates similar plants in Kentucky and Georgia.
