James Brown announced two performances in Vietnam on April 8 and 9 marking the 20th anniversary of Saigon’s fall. The godfather of soul said the shows aim to foster global unity and humanity. Brown, 61, lives in Beech Island and previously performed for American troops during the Vietnam War.
Frances I. Squires was sentenced to 17 months in federal prison and ordered to repay $263,000 after pleading guilty to telephone wire fraud. The North Augusta woman allegedly duped funds from Microwave Consulting and a Santa Monica investor intended for church use. Prosecutors said about $100,000 in cash and vehicles were seized to repay victims.
