In his first 50 mile race on Saturday Tommy Har Man completed the course in 8 hours 23 minutes placing 22nd among 45 starters. Rotary Club president Allen Bayles proposed a middle name for the Aiken Sesquicentennial Celebration calling it small fee. He noted the name during discussion of a “Brothers of the Bush” club offering for a small fee to men who agree to regulations and facial hair growth.

Trucker Found Who Hit Pair On U S 278
South Carolina Highway Patrol located the truck involved in the Beech Island collision that killed 14-year-old Clifford Johnson and 12-year-old Teresa Anne. Driver Robert Bazmore said he saw the youths wobbling on the road as his loaded cab passed, and may have been unaware he struck them.

Forty Five Warrants Issued In Aiken Drug Raids
J C Busbee director of the Aiken Public Safety Department said forty five warrants issued for cocaine and other drug charges after a three month undercover operation. Seventeen arrests have been made and ten warrants are pending with seven or eight more arrests expected. One suspect fled the state. Thirty five warrants have been served on the seventeen in the Aiken County jail. A large quantity of cocaine marijuana money and other substances were confiscated.
