Bush keeps MOX alive while GOP forum weighs local issues
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush urges continuing the Savannah River Site MOX facility unless a proven alternative exists. U S Sen Lindsey Graham and Rep Joe Wilson joined in a presidential forum at USC Aiken where Bush Carson and Wilson addressed MOX and Obama budget plans to terminate the project. The MOX plan aims to dispose of 34 metric tons of weapons grade plutonium from Russia by converting it to nuclear fuel, with downsides including cost overruns and a shift to downblending to a Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in New Mexico.
