Man and Woman Face Charges for Shoplifting
A Salley man and an Aiken woman were arrested Sunday for shoplifting from a Richland Avenue store. Kevon Middleton, 18, faces shoplifting first offense and failure to comply. Erica Smith, 18, faces shoplifting second offense. Officers located two suspects in front of the store. Middleton fled but was later caught after concealment of candy, pull-up diapers, and Axe spray found in his backpack. Both were taken to the Aiken County detention center.

Aiken man charged after armed robbery at Beech Island ATM
Alexander Mercuri, 23, faces weapon during a violent crime and attempted armed robbery charges after an incident at a Beech Island Atomic Road ATM. Deputies say a woman was forced to withdraw $180 as Mercuri covered his face with a hooded black jacket and fled before bloodhounds helped track him down about two hours later.
