Rehab can aid stroke recovery at home as well as clinics
A large Duke University led study finds home based physical therapy improves walking about as much as high tech treadmill rehab. Starting rehab six months after stroke also produced gains, challenging the belief that late therapy offers little benefit. The trial of 408 survivors shows similar 12 month walking improvements, with higher dizziness and fall risk in treadmill users.
