Plane Crashes in Parking Lot Near I 85. Pilot Dead

A single engine Cessna 150 crashed in a Powdersville parking lot near Interstate 85 Saturday afternoon. The pilot, not identified by Saturday evening, died. FAA spokeswoman Mary Ann Cassano said the cause and destination are unknown as the NTSB and FAA investigate.

One Fatality On Roads This Weekend

One person died this weekend on South Carolina highways. Ray Jackson 41 of Gaffney died Saturday at about 5 a.m. when his car overturned on U S Highway 29 four miles south of Gaffney. Traffic deaths counted from 6 p.m. Friday through midnight Sunday. Financial abuses by probates and other judges prompt restraints on court administrators handling others money. The state Supreme Court bans judges serving as executor or conservator except for close relatives. the action follows concerns in Darling ton and Dorchester counties.

Graham Says Clinton Is Anti Nuclear

Rep. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina accused the Clinton administration of being anti nuclear and plans to shut down Savannah River Site at a USC Aiken town meeting. He warned of 4 200 jobs to be cut and proposed 4 000 more in DOE plans to cut SRS staff, urging a phased approach and fair compensation for those affected. He pressed Congress as the last hope to prevent excessive downsizing and spoke of a future worry free of SRS turmoil for Aiken County residents.
