Aiken County to Implement 1 Percent Sales Tax for Schools
A 1 percent educational capital sales tax begins March 1 in Aiken County, raising local sales tax from 7 to 8 percent for ten years. Funds aimed at capital projects will support Aiken High School, Leavelle Mc Campbell Middle, North Augusta High, Ridge Spring Monetta Elementary and High, and possibly the Career and Technology Center. The district projects $16 million to $21 million yearly, with bonds to follow for construction.
