Trenton Woman Dies In Springfield Church Road Wreck

Leslie Devon Hall, 46, of Harris Family Circle in Trenton, died at the scene after her 2004 Volkswagen Beetle ran a stop sign on Springfield Church Road and collided with a northbound SCE&G line truck on SC Highway 19. The truck driver was uninjured.

Bush proposes austere budget cutting broad programs

President Bush introduces a 2.57 trillion budget cutting non security domestic spending by about one percent. The plan eliminates or slashes more than 150 programs including Medicaid housing for the disabled Amtrak subsidies and drug prevention in schools as Congress faces a difficult path to passage.

DOE budget trimmed but SRS funding stable under proposal

The 2006 DOE budget shows a 2 percent reduction to 23.4 billion with Savannah River Site missions largely funded at 2005 levels. SRS earmarks include 400 million for Defense Waste Processing Facility and 70 million for Salt Waste Processing Facility, along with 8 million for the glass waste storage building and 10 million for the plutonium vitrification line. Environmental management at SRS totals 1.352 billion, down 5.9 percent from 2005.
