Pianists Delphin and Romain Shine in Aiken Concert

Wilfred Delphin and Edwin Romain performed as a two piano duo in USC Aiken Cultural Series last night to a crowd of several hundred. They opened with Poulenc Elegie and Saint-Saens variations, then duetted Brahms Five Hungarian Dances and tackled Walker Sonata for Two Pianos. Rachmaninoff and a Chopin Rondo followed before an encore of a Scott Joplin ragtime piece. The performance earned the series’ only standing ovation and showcased their technical virtuosity and musical discipline.

Two morgue workers suspended over wrong cremation case

In Hauppauge New York two morgue attendants were suspended without pay after cremating the wrong body. The family of 62 year old William Podstupka opposed cremation on religious grounds and feared the body could not be viewed for a final goodbye. An investigation is underway as the cremation mix up was described as gross negligence by deputy medical examiner Dr Stuart Dawson. The correct body remains at the morgue while the crematory requires proof of proper identification.
