North Augusta officials urged the Aiken School Board to back a Tax Increment Financing scheme for redevelopment near Hammond's Ferry including a baseball stadium, hotel, housing, and retail. The board voted for a public hearing on February 25 at 6 pm to hear both sides, with debate over tax impacts, debt service, and revenue.
The Friends of Hopelands and Rye Patch Inc host a 2 p.m. Sunday ceremony in Aiken to unveil a finely reproduced portrait of Dorothy Rogers also known as Aunt Dar. Mayor Fred Cavanaugh and Rogers family attend as trustees speak on the historic Rye Patch estate now preserved by the city.
St Paul Relays for Life co captains Sandy Bartholomew and Jessica Bessette led church youth and members to raise nearly 410000 for American Cancer Society.
