Warner weighs land use panel for county reforms
Commissioner Wade Brodie says Aiken County may create a land use planning and zoning commission to address the 25 million dollar South Carolina portion of the Augusta Area Transportation System and to decide on a new county courthouse. He expects no tax increase in two years and notes only two hires, a secretary and a county administrator, who will hire staff and report to the commission. The administrator’s salary may exceed 16000 dollars but should save the county tenfold in six months. Two candidates have been interviewed with six more to be seen, possibly chosen by February 15 and starting around March 15, with formal hiring at the February 27 meeting.
