Greenville guard shot during prison escape in Greenville County
In Greenville County a prison guard Pelham L. Ross aged 49 was shot five times with a 32 caliber pistol and stabbed with a pocketknife as two prisoners overpowered him during an escape Monday night. The escapees were identified as John ny Johnson 27 and Albert Manley 25 both from Greenville. Johnson faced 25 years and Manley 9 1/2 years.

FBI Checks Bamberg Gambling Raid Near Bamberg South Carolina
