Village system offers new hope for mental patients
In Sumter County near Columbia South Carolina the pilot village program at the state mental health department treats up to 24 patients in a community like setting. Dr Dylan Pollard notes 40 patients have returned to community life but zero reentries. If funded 12 million would expand to two villages with stores post office banks and cinemas to recreate a town for 288 patients.
