Budget squeeze forces Florence museum to discard aircraft
Florence Air and Missile Museum owner Tom Griffin says visitors fell from 150000 at opening in 1964 to about 20000 last year. He blames Interstate 95 for traffic loss and plans to give away four airplanes and five helicopters to raise funds. The museum holds 38 aircraft plus 6000 other artifacts, including a B 29 bomber disassembled into 27 pieces that would cost about 15000 to reassemble.
