Midwest Snowstorm Disrupts Travel Ahead of Northeast Swath
A slow moving winter storm blanketed the Plains and Midwest with heavy snow. More than 1,950 flights were canceled, including about 1,300 at O Hare and 300 at Midway in Chicago. Blizzard conditions were forecast for Chicago with over a foot of snow. Roads were treacherous and outages affected roughly 18,000 ComEd customers. Weather forecasters warned of 10 to 16 inch accumulations in several states and additional snow expected into Monday.
