Namon Corley, longtime Woods caretaker, resigns after 49 years. The Hitchcock Woods Foundation and 140 Aiken households fund a retirement package. Corley, praised as the Woods’ master, will retire to spend time with family and pursue new activities.

Ten Aiken Woman's Club members trained at the Aiken County American Red Cross earned adult CPR and AED certification in about four hours. Instructor Carolyn Heffner noted grant funding from the General Federation of Women's Clubs supports health projects. Upcoming CPR classes with dates and contact numbers were listed by club chair Darlene Rittel.

MathCounts event to draw 12 area middle schools
Aiken Technical College will host MathCounts on Saturday February 9 featuring teams from about 12 area middle schools. Students will take individual and team tests with a 16 finalist countdown round then a state and possibly national competition, coordinated by Lynn Rickabaugh.
