Levees monitored in Missouri as flood threat grows
A winter flood threatened nearly two dozen levees in Missouri and Illinois as rivers rose prompting evacuations. The Army Corps deemed 19 levees highly vulnerable while Valley Park ordered mandatory evacuations for 350 to 400 homes and dozens of businesses near the Meramec River. At least 20 deaths have been blamed on flooding and two people remained missing. Search teams sought a missing Arkansas country singer duck hunting in northern Oklahoma. The floodwaters also destroyed a film set from Where the Red Fern Grows.
