The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis deflated due to heavy ice and snow buildup no injuries were reported and it was unclear if repairs would allow the Vikings Cowboys game to be played Monday night witnesses heard a groan and saw the roof collapse while workers cleared the roof earlier in the week the dome had deflated previously in 1981 after a panel tore during construction

School Board Confronts Nurse Supervision Dilemma
Aiken County Board of Education faces a required nurse supervision issue at the January 11 meeting. Nurse Ann Doscher has served as the sole nurse for Chapter I students, but a 1980 state ruling requires licensed practical nurses to be supervised by a registered nurse, physician, or dentist. The district must choose between hiring a supervisor or reassigning staff, or dropping the program to comply and limit liability.

Stolen Firearms From Aiken Residence Reported
Firearms and other items valued over $5,000 were taken from an Aiken residence this week. George C. Peterson reported six rifles valued about $2,000 plus a $950 video recorder and a $750 electric typewriter were taken Tuesday after a window to the master bedroom was left open. The bedroom was ransacked. In a separate case six rifles worth over $1,400 were stolen Tuesday from a Beech Island home.
