Stephen Carter has retained Carl B. Grant to represent him in the case stemming from the shooting death of an Aiken Public Safety officer and the wounding of another. Carter was arrested December 20 after allegedly pulling a gun and fatally shooting Officer Scotty Richardson and wounding Officer Travis Griffin. He is hospitalized and will be extradited to South Carolina after release, with SLED coordinating the case and the Second Circuit Solicitor's Office prosecuting.
