Shoney's rebuild in Aiken after fire gains approval and reopening
Woodrum wins corporate okay in late February to test a new Shoney’s prototype for Aiken. Construction on an all metal, vintage cafe style building began in March and the restaurant reopened May 9 costing about 1.3 million with Woodrum funding 200 thousand. The owner notes insurance coverage helped restore operations and preserve roughly half of the pre fire staff.
