A 23 member crew spent Christmas weekend flushing 503 toilets at the Gator Bowl to prevent a freeze up ahead of the New Year’s college football game. Damage from a 1983 freeze led officials to hire the team. A power outage halted pumps, causing about 5000 in damage. Clemson faces West Virginia in the game.
CBS and ABC refused to run Schering-Ploughs Drixoral ads featuring President Bush and Soviet leader Gorbachev without official consent from the leaders. NBC planned to air them. Schering considered cable placement. White House previously objected to endorsements by using presidential imagery.
