Four Die In County Accidents
The Christmas weekend raised Aiken County highway deaths to 38 this year. Paul Jeffcoat, 20, of 579 Laurens St., died when his car left Secondary 33 and hit a tree near North Augusta. Forrest Hightower, 65, of Ladson, died in a two car crash on I 20 near Martintown Road. Quitman Wells Jr., 41, of Wagener, was struck by a car on SC 39. Lilly May Quattlebaum, also of Wagener, died after stepping into the path of an oncoming car on SC 39. The Wagener fatalities were separate incidents.
