Free Adoption Day at Aiken Shelter for Christmas Event
The Aiken County Animal Shelter and FOTAS host a Pay it Forward for Christmas adoption event on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 333 Wire Road. Selected dogs and cats will be available with adoption fees waived thanks to sponsors. dogs are 35 and kittens 10 when not sponsored. Aims to boost saves for 2027 and reach 4,000 by year end. North Augusta planners denied a rezoning request for a 16.6 acre parcel west of West Martintown Road near Frontage Road off I 20. The plan would turn Planned Development into General Commercial for a multi use residential project with 2 structures and a private pool and gym. The Planning Commission voted 5 to 1 against the General Commercial change, urging City Council to consider R5 mixed residential instead.
