DOE details proposed nuclear imports at Savannah River Site
The U S Department of Energy issued a Findings of No Significant Impact on a project to import and process 900 kilograms of highly enriched uranium. The assessment says minimal environmental impact and no expected long term career cancer fatalities. The material was previously gifted to Germany under the Atoms for Peace program and later subject to repatriation debates with local advisory boards.
