BioPort expects FDA approval for anthrax vaccine distribution
BioPort Corp, the only U.S. producer of the anthrax vaccine, said it is confident federal approval will come soon after FDA inspectors found most issues addressed. Spokesperson Kim Brennen Root noted four of seven FDA concerns were corrected, allowing progress toward shipment. The company has manufactured the vaccine since 1998 but could not ship after prior inspections in 1999 and 2000.
