AiKen plans temporary traffic relief on Pine Log Road to ease peak hour jams at Powderhouse and Banks Mill intersections. City official Roger LeDuc says temporary left turn lanes and about $30 000 in improvements will be installed in the coming six months before the road is widened.
The Energy Department said a small broken part on the safety rod lifting assembly caused the shutdown delay at the Savannah River nuclear plant in South Carolina. The reactor, owned by the department and operated by Westinghouse, is being restarted after $2 billion in safety upgrades.

Secret Santa secured sponsors for 1100 but faced 1700 applications. Empty Stocking saw 18000 pledged of 25000 with a last minute success.
