Police say Ricky Joseph Aymond, 38, met Kenneth Merrill Lynch at a bar Saturday night, they drove off in Lynch’s car, and Lynch was found dead in his apartment after firefighters were called for smoke. Chief Reuben Greenburg says robbery motive is suspected.
Betty Hatchell of Charlotte North Carolina Polly McCaskey of Columbia Beatrice Strom of Charlotte North Carolina Jordan Yarbrough of Aiken are listed in obituary notices on page 2B detailing their deaths and basic biographical references.
Steven Thompson will remain in Aiken as city manager after a review of options in Spartanburg. He cited personal reasons and said he and his wife preferred Aiken, noting there are many positive developments in the city. GALEF aims to use seed money from Aiken 20/20 to fund programs in Area 1 schools, linking South Aiken High and Aiken High via a shared computer network to share libraries and internet access.
